It was a great day for the South East Bayside Region, winning Premierships in both U16 Dowling and U14 competitions.
In the Dowling grand final, South East Country piled up an impressive 214, with Noah Severin 3/20, Marco Walker 2/23, Miles Sellenger 1/23 and Tom Buchanan (1/23 off 10 ocvers) the best of the bowling. Bayside Breakers made light work of the chase, powering home to 4/216 with a couple of overs to spare. A magnificent 106 run opening stand from Ben Pryor 53 and Michael Parsons 36 laid the foundation, and young prodigy Mackenzie Harvey blasted 66no off 68 balls to finish it off.
In the U14 grand final, breakers batted first to make 9/172, with Spencer Wood, Campbell Kellaway 23 and Jordan Hesline 41 starring with the bat. Metro North West never really got close, finishing 9/140, with 5 single wicket takers and 4 runouts. Michael Ingram (1/4 off 5 overs) and Hugo Hall-Kahan (1/10 off 8 overs) were probably the pick of an even attack. A very dominant performance by the Breakers boys all through the tournament
Ormond CC celebrated its 2nd ever win in the JCCraig (formerly known as Hatch) Shield with a tense win over Balwyn. Batting first on a deteriorating pitch at Yarraville was crucial..Ormond managed 140, with many bats getting a start but only Campbell James (31) and Rory Freeman (24) capitalizing. Balwyn were in the hunt for much of the innings but crucial wickets to Bailey Moon saw the task get too big for their lower order and they fell 20 runs short. Jacob Gray (3/15), Bailey Moon (3/17) and Liam O.Brien (3/18) all bowled superbly. The Ormond side was all SECA boy, no country kids or imports so further testimony to the strength of SECA junior cricket.
