SECA are pleased to announce the following 26 players will be representing SECA in the VMCU Representative carnival in Jan 2019.
Congratulations to all these boys, who worked very hard during the trial process.
Mitchell Shield and JBPlate squads will be finalised after considering performances in Practice matches
OVERVIEW OF SELECTION PROCESS
Players are nominated by their clubs to trial, or "cherry picked" based on MyCricket statistics. Some are chosen for additional
development work during the winter.
[b] general initial screening - all nominated players attend 2 nets sessions in September 2nd and 9th, then cut back to +-44
[b] trial matches for the 44 in Oct, then cut down to 26 (2 squads of 13)
[c] final 26 play practice matches versus other Associations on Sundays in Nov/Dec 2018
[d] the final 26 represent the SECA in a tournament 7th-20th January 2019
SECA will conduct U12 Representative team trials in September 2nd and 9th 2018.
Based on what the coaches see we will cut back numbers to 44 players.
This 44 will then be invited to intra-squad trial matches (4 teams of 11) planned for 2 Sundays in October.
(9 am – 3 pm) where we can look at them under match conditions.
Two days are offered to hopefully ensure these players can attend one match, but both matches would be preferable.
After these 2 trial games are finished, we will select 26 to go on to represent SECA in January 2019.
If weather mucks either of the trial matches up, we will schedule extra sessions as required.
We will have practice matches against other major Associations’ U12 Rep squads on Sundays between Sun 12th Nov
and Sun 10th Dec 2018. Details to be confirmed.
These will be 40 overs per side generally 10 am – 4 pm. unless advised otherwise.
Players wanting to play every match will be accommodated. The aim of these matches is to give our players a taste of the standard, to test players in particular roles, and finalise who will play in the (Mitchell Shield) and (Josh Browne Plate)
Tournament dates Jan 7th – Jan 20th 2019
